School and Stuff Update

The first full week of school for all 3 is over, the first set of tests is taken. T is still loving school. I hope it continues, especially since she is apparently quite the perfectionist. She brought home a paper where she had glued b next to D and d next to B, even though it was already "graded" she had to tear the letters off and glue them in the right place. G has discovered that her teacher is forgetful but she is dealing with it. Hopefully it will be a learning experience and not a source of frustration. E is plugging away as always. His class is competing for AR points. His teacher wants them to earn at least 1 pt and week- he has 7 already.

I took what was hopefully my last exam yesterday, I should get my score on Monday. My thesis is a hurry up and wait project. I am praying it gets done by the deadline, if not it will not be by any fault of mine. I started with 14 weeks to complete it. It is graded by a committee of 3 I thought. I waited most of the month of July to be assigned 3 people to my committee only to find out I only needed 2. Then I found out the first draft only needed to be reviewed by the chair. So I asked her to review it, she said she would but then went on vacation for a week. Right now I am waiting for my prospectus to be approve so that it can go to the IRB so I can start collecting my research data, but my other committee member is on vacation!

W has checked out of the job he has been doing and starts his new job in a few weeks. Until then he will be out of town for training. The good thing about this is that I get to drop the kids off and Grandma and Grandpa's for Labor Day weekend and W and I get to start looking at areas we might want to live in when we move next summer.

I forgot on my last post to add a pic of the kids on their first day of school so here ya go....

It is August Already!

Summer went by so fast. I was thinking we would have a relaxing less busy summer this year but it didn't quite work out that way. Besides the trip to Chattanooga we also visited our families in Biloxi and St. Louis. Swim lessons, karate, eye exams, gymnastics, visits to the zoo and several Redbirds games and now- school started yesterday!

T had her first day of Kindergarten, now she has to wait till next Monday to go again. She will find out who her teacher is on Friday morning and then Friday afternoon we can go meet her and see the classroom and drop off school supplies.

G is in 2nd grade and E is in 4th. Both E and G got the teachers they wanted so hopefully that will make the year go smoothly, or at least the first few weeks! G was so happy to see all her friends at registration and the first day of school. E is looking forward to the start of APEX but was pleased to see that some of his friends from class last year are in his class again.

T loved school. She had her Kindergarten testing. She said she missed a few letters because she forgot them and the numbers were really hard "because they weren't in order." LOL. She seemed really surprised that her teacher "put Xs on the line" when she missed the letter or number name. I am thinking she is going to be a hard worker to keep from getting anymore of those Xs!

I am plugging my way through my school work. I have an exam next week and then just my thesis and oral exam to conquer. Still set to graduate in January as long as I can get my thesis parts graded in a timely manner!
