This is T's pumpkin , the kids in their costumes- E as a Jedi, G as an Eevee, T as a Chimchar and Aunt K, and W and E's Jack-O-Lanterns. G and T's costumes were a bit hard to identify- they are both types of Pokemon and K and I carried their Pokeballs and were their trainers. G kept telling everyone "I know I look like a dog but I am an Eevvee." When people asked T what she was she would reply "I am just wearing a Chimchar costume." E was a Jedi, not Obi Wan Kenobe and not Luke Skywalker- just a Jedi! Next year I am hoping for simpler costumes requiring less explanation!

G Can Read!

G read her first Dick and Jane book yesterday! "Oh, oh, oh. Come and see." LOL but she is so excited. She wants a Gameboy for Christmas and I told her she really needs to be able to read to play Pokemon (luckily E agreed with me), so her goal was to be reading by Christmas- she is well on her way!

The Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday while I was home studying W took the kids to the Pumpkin Patch. They went through the corn maze- and got very muddy. Then they were able to pick their Halloween pumpkins from the patch to carve on Wednesday. G got the littlest pumpkin- she didn't want it to stay in the pumpkin patch and be lonely like the one in the story- everybody say aaawww.

Elvis Has Left the Building!

The zoo here dresses their animal statues outside the entrance for Halloween. I was explaining to G that this one is a Jailhouse Croc. You know like the Elvis song Jailhouse Rock. She looked at me like I was nuts. I said, "you do know who Elvis is right?" To which she replied, "yea he is that guy who died on his toilet. Does that mean he died with out any pants on?"

Report Cards

The 2 big kids got their reports cards thursday. E made Principle's Honor roll- all A's and E's. No honor roll for kindergarten but G got Mastery on her report card and hasn't had her "bear" moved yet. (Kindergarten at our school has completly different report cards then the other grades. They have benchmarks for each marking period and recieve either mastery, progressing, or nonmastery marks. Each child has a bear for their behavior it gets moved from excellent to satisfactory to N- not sure what that means- to U each time the get in trouble.)

The first day of school
This is a bit late but the kids have all officially started school. E is in second grade (he actually started 2 weeks ago), G started K last week (same school K just starts later) and T had her first day of preK 3 last week and starts "full time" (m,w,f, 9-12) tomorrow.

Oh and I passed my exam. I am working on Instructional Planning and Strategies now!

T's Hard Day

From MySpace: Thursday, September 06, 2007
T got in the car after school the other day and told me all about how she had to do all the jobs at school. She was the line leader, and someone got their clip moved for getting ahead of her. She was the door holder. She was the flag helper and had to hold it really tight while everyone said their Pledge of Allegiance. She was the weather helper, it was a little sun and some clouds and not cold. She was the fish helper but she couldn't remember what the fish helper does. She went on for 10 minutes about all the jobs she did because no one else in her class wanted to help.
I shared Tabitha's story with her teacher- she didn't have any jobs that day

Just Starting Out

I have had a MySpace for a while (thanks Kathy) but I wasn't using it much and Mom and others with out a MySpace can't see it since I didn't want it public. So anyway I thought I would try this and see how it works!
