This Year's Garden

The garden is coming along well so far this year. We have tomatos...
and more tomatos (hopefully some of them make it to the table and the canning jars this year!)
Lots of green blueberries, some of which are just starting to get blue.
Trying corn for the first time.
We have zucchini, bell peppers, carrots, pumpkin, cucumber, green beans, and more berry (raspberry and black berry) bushes across the back.  We also have some asparugus started, we may not get any aspargus, raspberries, or black berries this year but we are hopeful for next year.
Our first potato crop!
We had some for dinner the other night and the rest are headed for the freezer today.

We also put in a kitchen garden with herbs and strawberries.  I see lots of canning and freezing in my future.

Mom Knows Best

I am wondering when my kids will learn that they should do what they are told and not argue with me.  It would save so much time.  Here are two (of MANY) example.
Me- Please get your hair clips, pony tail holder, and hair brush out of the car and put them away.
DD- Yes, ma'am.

A little while later.

Me- The bathroom counter is not where your hair stuff goes.  Go put it AWAY.
DD- Yes, ma'am.

A little while later.

Me- The bathroom counter is not where your hair stuff goes. Go put it AWAY.

DD- I DID!
Me- No, you didn't.
DD- I DID!
Me- No, the hair brush is still on the bathroom counter.
DD- No it is not.  I PUT IT AWAY!
Me- No, you didn't

We walk to the bathroom.  DD picks the hairbrush up from the counter and puts it away in the drawer, which by the way is right below where she left it on the counter.

Me-  Please take the box you left on the fireplace and put it in the recycling now, before your sister takes the recycling out to the curb.
DS- Yes, Ma'am.

A little while later.

Me- The box is still on the fireplace.
DS- Oh, I forgot.
Me- Well go take it out to the recyling.
DS- I can't, the can is already at the curb.
Me- Yes, you can you will just have to take it all the way to the curb.

DS stomps away grumbling.

Life would be so much easier for them if they did what I said the right way the first time.  I am sure my mom siad the same thing about me but I really think I learned faster!

Wisdom from an (Almost) Seven Year Old

Daddy told me I had to wash me feet. I did even though they weren't very dirty because Daddy told me to. And anyway feet are never REALLY clean even when you just washed them. Kinda like lines. Even if you draw them straight they are never REALLY straight because there are always some bumps in them.

NRG Dance Project

This past weekend G went to NRG Dance Project in Biloxi with her studio. The girls did very well bringing home several top prizes, a couple scholarships, and even a few cash awards. Mad Scientist got High Gold and First Place; Crazy Feet got Gold; and Spoonful of Sugar got Gold and First Place.

But a big part of this weekend was workshops. The girls had dance classes from 9am to 3pm (and then competed!) on Saturday and had more classes from 9 to 3 on Sunday. It was a really long weekend but G loved it and even got to take a Hip Hop class with TWITCH!

Surgery Day

Let me start by saying my daughter is a nut!

She has tried several ways to avoid this surgery, she contemplated removing her arm and hiding it. We discussed and decided that the surgery to put it back on would probably be worse then the surgery to have her bump removed. She though maybe she would just skip over Tuesday but couldn't figure out how and I told her then she would just have to have surgery on another day. So finally she decided it was inevitable.

We had to be at the hospital this morning at 0545 so I got T up at 0500. On the way to the hospital she was listing all the stuff that wasn't open yet; McDonald's, Walgreen's, the grocery store, STARBUCKS! She decided no one should have to go anywhere before Starbucks opened, I agreed with her. : )

We settled in the APU with out any problems, she sat in her recliner and watched Camp Rock 2. She rode her "carriage" down to the OR and I went with her to the holding area. They asked her to mark her surgical site with a marker and she drew a heart around it : ) One of the corpsman blew her up a glove balloon. She was really impressed with having a balloon I could touch (I am allergic to latex so balloons are a no no for me) and she kept trying, with out success to blow her own up.

The anesthesiologist explained to us that he would give her some gas (perfume) and she would go to sleep and then he would put the IV in and give her some more meds to put her under. My little nut decided right then that she was not going to like the perfume and that she was not going to smell it. She spent the rest of the time in the holding area holding- her nose! Things apparently did not get better in the OR because Aunt C (good family friend and OR nurse!) said she hoped T would forgive her.

Surgery went well no splint on her arm just internal stitches and Dermabond. Recovery so far has been smooth. She loved her wheelchair ride down to the car. Her local has just now started to wear off so we are using Tylenol, Motrin, and ice for pain and swelling. We have T3 to give her but are hoping not to use it.

Tomorrow is The Day

T's surgery date is finally here. I still don't know what time but probably early tomorrow morning. My in-laws are coming this evening so they can be here for the other 2 kids and W and I can both be with T.

Puppy Update-

House training is going pretty well. We have had a few accidents in the house- mostly when everyone is busy and no one is watching Gonzo closely. I took her to the vet last week and they gave her antibiotics for her snotty nose. She has also been REALLY itchy though and they could not find any cause for that so we went ahead and started her on benadryl. She still chews and scratches some but not nearly as much as before.
